1992 BMW M5 Touring
Among the rarest high-performance vehicles ever produced, only 891 examples of this extraordinary wagon left BMW’s Garching facility between 1992 and 1995. The M5 Touring was the first wagon variant in M5 history, challenging conventional thinking about station wagon capabilities.
Each vehicle was hand-assembled at BMW M’s facility, resulting in superior panel alignment and finishing compared to standard production models. The distinctive exterior featured M-specific front and rear bumpers, a small M5 badge with motorsport colors on the grille, and twin exhaust outlets.
Power came from the renowned S38B38 3.8-liter inline-six engine, producing 340 horsepower at 6,900 rpm and 295 lb-ft of torque. This engine was an evolution of the same architecture used in the BMW M1’s M88 engine. Performance figures included a 5.9-second sprint to 62 mph and a limited top speed of 155 mph, making family hauling remarkably quick.
