1927 Lincoln Model L Imperial Victoria (by Fleetwood)

Built by Pennsylvania coachbuilders Fleetwood on a 150-inch commercial chassis, the 1927 Lincoln Model L Imperial Victoria was one of just six such chassis produced for independent body companies that year—and likely the only one not converted into a hearse or ambulance. This extraordinary vehicle features three rows of seating, each with its own windshield, and a distinctive “cape top” design. An innovative one-way intercom system allowed rear passengers to communicate with the driver without hearing responses.

The 1927 model year brought significant improvements to the L series, including smaller wheels, four-wheel mechanical brakes as standard equipment, and instruments arranged on an oval surface. Lincoln referred to this as the “six-brake system,” combining four-wheel internal expanding brakes controlled by foot with two-wheel rear external contracting brakes operated by hand. This luxury automobile was designed for comfort and style during the Ford ownership period of Lincoln.
