The Cactus Wren is the largest wren in the United States, inhabiting deserts of the southwestern U.S. and Mexico. It nests inside cholla and saguaro cacti, where the spines help protect its eggs and chicks from predators. It feeds on insects, seeds, fruits, and small reptiles.
