This bird shimmers with iridescent colors that seem to change with every step.

The Sclater’s Monal inhabits the high mountain forests of southwestern China and northern Myanmar. It spends much of its time foraging on the forest floor, using its strong bill to uncover roots, tubers, insects, and other invertebrates hidden beneath the soil.

A radiant treasure of the mountains, bringing flashes of living color to the misty forests.
