This quail would rather freeze in place than fly when danger approaches.

The Montezuma Quail inhabits oak woodlands and grassy mountain slopes of the southwestern United States and Mexico. It spends most of its time quietly foraging for bulbs, seeds, tubers, and insects, relying on its remarkable camouflage to remain hidden among fallen leaves and tall grass.

A master of disappearing into the landscape, proving that stillness can be the greatest defense.
