This bird was once feared extinct until it was rediscovered in the wild.
The Gurney’s Pitta inhabits the last remaining lowland rainforests of southern Myanmar and Thailand. It spends most of its time on the forest floor, searching through leaf litter for earthworms, insects, snails, and other small invertebrates while staying hidden beneath dense vegetation.
A living symbol of hope, reminding us that nature can still surprise us when its forests are protected.
