Lady Amherst’s Pheasant is one of Asia’s most spectacular birds, native to southwestern China and northern Myanmar. The male is famous for his extraordinary combination of a shimmering green crown, brilliant red crest, black-and-white cape, and extraordinarily long patterned tail. He spends much of his time foraging on the forest floor for seeds, berries, and insects, while the female blends quietly into the surrounding vegetation.
A living masterpiece of the Asian forests, proving that nature sometimes creates beauty that seems almost too elaborate to be real.
