This tiny finch wears a splash of brilliant blue like a jewel around its chest.
The Blue-breasted Cordon-bleu is a delicate finch found across parts of eastern and central Africa. Its soft blue plumage, warm brown wings, and reddish bill give it an elegant appearance, while the male often shows off his colors during courtship with lively movements and displays. It feeds mainly on grass seeds, foraging close to the ground in pairs or small groups.
A little jewel of the African grasslands, proving that even the smallest birds can carry an extraordinary touch of color.
