An American woman was recently surprised to discover that her cat was leading a “secret double life” outside the home. One day, she returned home to find a note tucked into her cat’s collar.
Claudia first saw Rango at an animal shelter three years ago. The small, soft orange tabby instantly captivated her, and she immediately took him home. Rango quickly adapted to his new environment, spending his days sleeping close to his owner and gradually revealing his personality: adventurous, sunbathing, and fond of snuggling in his owner’s room, especially enjoying warm air.

One day, Rango sat at the front door, staring out and meowing incessantly. Claudia guessed he might be cold, so she opened the door for him to go outside. Once outside, he was a different story: digging holes, sunbathing, napping, and returning home promptly before dinner. The next morning, he was back at the door waiting for it to open. His days were always very busy.
Claudia was always curious: where did Rango go after excitedly rushing out the door each day? But since he always returned home on time, she was relieved. One evening, Rango returned home with a yellow note tucked into his collar.

The note read:
“Does anyone want this cat? What’s its name? (It’s been coming to our house a lot lately.)”
Claudia was both annoyed and amused. The next day, she wrote a note and hung it back:
“Its name is Rango, and it loves to wander around!”
Afterward, they started exchanging information about Rango, and she learned that the little orange tabby frequented its “fixed spot” and had become quite friendly with the neighbors. Regardless, Rango always returned home after sunset, never missed a meal, and never missed its beloved goodnight hug.

Claudia had initially thought that adopting Rango would make it its only family, but she hadn’t expected to have to “share” the cat with someone else. But as long as Rango seemed happy, she was content.
