In France, a firefighter pulled a tiny kitten from a storm drain—cold, soaked, and barely responsive.
Instead of taking it to a shelter, he slipped the kitten inside his jacket and brought it back to the station.
The kitten never left.
Now called Pompier, it naps inside helmets, climbs hoses during drills, and sometimes rides along in the truck on quiet days.
Someone even made a miniature firefighter helmet—red with gold trim—that Pompier wears during station visits.
The crew says it meows during siren tests and curls up in the coat room when it gets tired.
What started as a rescue became something more.
During long shifts, Pompier brings a calm that doesn’t need words.
When calls come in, it watches from the window.
When the team returns, it’s waiting by the door.
The fire station isn’t just a workplace anymore—it’s home.
Home to a cat that once had none, and a crew that found comfort in its quiet presence. 🐾🚒
