1969 Chevrolet Sportsvan 108 Camp Wagon

First introduced as part of Chevrolet’s van lineup, the 1969 Sportsvan 108 Camp Wagon featured a distinctive “cab-over-engine” design that placed the motor between the front seats, creating a compact but functional layout. This extended-wheelbase model measured 108 inches, offering significantly improved ride quality compared to the standard 90-inch wheelbase variants.

The Travel Equipment Corporation of Elkhart, Indiana outfitted these vehicles with camping amenities including a fold-down dining table that converted to a bed, a pop-up roof with striped canvas, window curtains, and a small galley with refrigerator, sink and propane cooker. Power options included a straight-six engine or optional 307-cubic-inch V8, paired with automatic transmission. Though less common than Ford or Dodge competitors of the era, these practical vehicles remain appreciated for their straightforward design and camping functionality.
