Three years ago, a woman’s cat met a fawn that had wandered into her yard alone. The fawn was small and trembling, so she took her in for a day, gave her food and water, and then brought her to a wildlife rescue. Before saying goodbye, she snapped a picture of the tiny fawn rubbing against her cat a moment she thought she’d never see again.
Last month, she stepped outside and froze. Her cat was sitting calmly on the driveway while a full-grown deer gently licked his head. She grabbed her camera and captured the moment, realizing it was the same animal from that photo three years ago. The little fawn she once helped was now grown and had returned to greet her old friend.
“It’s amazing,” the woman said. “Animals remember more than we think. She didn’t just remember the kindness. She remembered her friend.”
