1931 Cadillac 355-A Convertible Coupe
Cadillac’s 1931 model year brought significant refinements to the company’s established V8 platform, with the 355-A series representing the manufacturer’s most polished pre-Depression design.
The updated 353 cubic inch V8 received substantial visual improvements, including a lengthened hood featuring five hood doors plus an additional cowl door, creating a more sophisticated appearance that rivaled luxury European designs.
The entire body sat lower than previous years, while modernized splash aprons and dual chrome horns flanking the headlights enhanced the car’s presence. Inside, drivers found an attractive oval instrument cluster with black-faced gauges that became a signature design element.
Fleetwood provided coachwork for the convertible coupe variant, delivering bodywork nearly identical to that used on Cadillac’s flagship V-16 chassis. The convertible’s flowing lines benefited from the extended hood proportions, creating an elegant profile that captured the optimism of the late classic era.
