1970 Chevrolet Camaro Z28
Considered by many to be the finest Z28 ever produced, the second-generation 1970 Chevrolet Camaro Z28 marked a major departure from its predecessor with a completely redesigned body.
The 1970 model featured a longer, lower, and wider stance compared to the first-generation Camaro, creating an instantly recognizable silhouette. Notable exterior changes included a wider, lower grille with headlights set further apart, a larger rear spoiler, and the removal of the cowl-induction hood from previous years.
Under the hood sat the legendary LT-1 350 cubic inch V8 engine, shared with the Corvette for 1970. This high-performance powerplant delivered 360 gross horsepower at 6,000 rpm and 380 lb-ft of torque at 4,000 rpm, featuring solid lifters, an 11.0:1 compression ratio, and a 780 cfm Holley four-barrel carburetor.
The Z28 package cost $572 and included a standard four-speed manual transmission with Positraction rear end, although a three-speed automatic became available for the first time. Only 8,733 units were produced.
