This bird looks like a piece of tropical sky brought to life among the rainforest leaves. The Turquoise Tanager is a dazzling South American songbird, covered in vivid turquoise-blue plumage with darker markings that make its colors seem almost unreal. It lives in humid forests, forest edges, and gardens across parts of northern South America, where it searches through vegetation for fruits, berries, and insects. Often moving quickly through the canopy in pairs or small groups, it can be surprisingly easy to hear before you actually spot it.
A living flash of blue in the green, proving that the rainforest never runs out of ways to surprise us.
