Abandoned Pup Rescued After Months of Hiding Under Cars, Transforms Into A Princess

One quiet evening in Los Angeles, California, Maribel Colindres’ security camera alerted her to movement outside. When she checked the footage, she was surprised to see a fluffy little animal scurrying up her driveway.

“She looked like ananan Ewok,” Suzette Hall, founder of Logan’s Legacy 29, shared on Facebook.

The animal disappeared under Colindres’ car but returned a few hours later, just after sunrise. The cameras picked up movement again, and that’s when Colindres realized it was a little dog visiting her.

Colindres asked around, hoping one of her neighbors might know the dog’s story. What she learned broke her heart.

“AAA whole month ago, neighbors saw her get dumped,” Hall wrote. “She was so scared, spending long nights lonely, hiding under cars. Even tiny, little Ewok lookalikes get dumped…”

The Road to Rescue

Maribel Colindres couldn’t bear the thought of leaving the dog on the streets. But the scared pup wouldn’t let anyone get close enough for rescue.

“Maribel tried so hard to help her, but she she she would run so fast,” Hall shared.

In a last-ditch effort, Colindres set up a feeding station on her driveway and kept a watchful eye on the pup’s movements.

“Like clockwork, she would show up twice a day… between 6-7 p.m.,” Hall said.

Once a consistent schedule was established, Colindres reached out to Hall for help in trapping the pup. Hall arrived a few minutes before the dog’s usual evening visit and set up a trap.

The two waited.

“Literally, at 6:40 p.m.p.m.p.m., there she came, right on time,” Hall recalled. “We held our breath, and this tiny girl just walked right into my trap. It was absolutely amazing.”

A Princess Transformation

Overjoyed, Colindres and Hall finally captured the dog. Upon getting a closer look, Hall was inspired to name her after a beloved sci-fi princess.

“Even little Ewoks can be a princess,” Hall shared in a Facebook update. “And so, we shall name her Princess Leia.”

Suzette Hall

Hall drove Princess Leia to Camino Pet Hospital, where the sweet girl received a bath and haircut. Hours later, she looked completely transformed.

“She got a complete makeover,” Hall said. “Princess style.”

Princess Leia passed her health exams with flying colors and went on to a loving foster home, where she continues to thrive.

“She is the silliest girl ever and so sweet,” Hall told The Dodo. “She will run and do the zoomies and then get so tired and sleep under her foster’s foot.”

Though Princess Leia is still searching for her forever home, she’s enjoying every moment in her foster home. She’s grateful for the love and care she’s finally receiving.

“The poor baby was so dirty and had so many stickers on her fur, but look at her now,” Hall said. “There’sThere’sThere’s a complete sparkle in her eyes.”
