Family Accidentally Picks Up The Wrong Golden Retriever From Daycare, Chaos Ensues

Family Accidentally Picks Up Wrong Golden Retriever From Daycare, Hilarity Ensues

They say Golden Retrievers are one of the friendliest dogs in the world.

I couldn’t agree more.

Golden Retrievers are known for their endless friendliness toward everyone, even strangers. If a Golden likes you, they don’t care whether you’re a family member, a friend, or even an intruder. They are always sweet, always friendly.

No wonder this family from Virginia didn’t realize their mistake. It’s rare for any dog to go home with a stranger willingly, but a Golden would.

The family cats caught this friendly intruder – they’re always sniffing around, especially when it comes to dogs they don’t recognize.

The Friendliest Intruder

Doggy daycare centers are a blessing. For many dog owners who have to work, they’re the perfect solution for keeping their dogs entertained while they’re away.

But sometimes, these daycares can be a bit of a curse.

What this family from Virginia experienced doesn’t happen often, but as they say, even one mistake can cause quite a stir.

It started as a typical day for Emmy, the Golden Retriever, and her family. Every morning, Emmy happily heads to doggy daycare, where she enjoys spending time with her dog friends. It’s truly a priceless time for her.

That day, her family decided she needed a haircut, so they had the groomer at the daycare give her a little makeover. Nothing out of the ordinary, right?

Things started to feel a bit off when the family’s son went to pick up Emmy later that day. She looked a bit different, but everyone assumed it was just her new haircut. They figured they’d get used to it.

However, some family members immediately noticed something wasn’t quite right and made it clear that they wouldn’t be okay with this change.

The family cats were the first to spot it. They immediately sensed that this wasn’t their beloved Emmy, the dog they showered with kitty kisses every day. Instead, the cats started hissing and attacking the new dog.

The family quickly realized the mistake when this “new” Emmy began licking faces—something the real Emmy never did—and didn’t greet their neighbor, a habit Emmy always followed.

Off to the vets! Microchip scanning had to be done ASAP!

The vet confirmed their suspicions: this wasn’t their Emmy.

So, we accidentally picked up the wrong dog from daycare. Interesting… Where is our precious Emmy? Is she still there, waiting for us, heartbroken?

The family rushed back to the daycare center and discovered they had two almost identical Goldens: Emmy and the other dog. It was an honest mistake that could’ve happened to anyone.

Both dogs were returned to their rightful owners. And finally, the real Emmy was back at home.

Can you imagine the look on Emmy’s face when the son came in and took the wrong dog? The poor girl was definitely confused and terribly sad.

Thankfully, both dogs were microchipped. If you’re still debating whether or not to microchip your dog, here’s the sign you’ve been waiting for. Up to 50% of lost dogs that are microchipped make their way back to their families.

Just imagine how low that number would be without the benefits of microchipping. The number of broken hearts and lost dogs would be overwhelming.

Microchipping isn’t expensive. Many vet clinics offer it for just $20 or so. If you’re getting a dog, surely you can spare an Andrew Jackson for this simple but life-saving measure.
