A fragile two-week-old puppy lay sobbing on the side of a road, abandoned and alone.

Cruel people had taken her away from her mother, leaving her exposed to danger and helpless in the world.

Injured and unable to crawl, she couldn’t search for her mom, whom she missed terribly.

Though she was near the brink of despair, the little pup refused to give up. She cried as loudly as she could, hoping for someone to hear her desperate call.

Would anyone find her before it was too late?

A Fight For Survival

Thankfully, the puppy was discovered and brought to Bosley’s Place, a rescue and nursery for homeless and neonatal puppies in Smyrna, Georgia.

The staff felt their hearts break as they heard her cries of pain.

Dumpling, as she was later named, was in critical condition. Her body was covered in puncture wounds, and she was barely hanging on.

The team wasn’t sure what had happened to her, so they immediately rushed her to the vet for a full examination.

The pup’s condition was dire. She had broken ribs and subcutaneous emphysema caused by her injuries.

She was treated with antibiotics and pain relievers. Too weak to nurse on her own, the team began tube-feeding her.

Dumpling was moved to the nursery, where her caregivers watched over her, giving her the best possible care, hoping she could pull through.

“All we can do from this point forward is provide her with the care that she needs and pray that she is strong enough to overcome the obstacles that she is faced with,” wrote Bosley’s Place in a Facebook post.

Though Dumpling battled a fever for several hours, she started to show improvement the following morning.

The little pup proved her resilience.

On day three, she found the strength to nurse.

The staff showered her with love, reassuring her that she wasn’t alone anymore. Dumpling soaked in the affection, and slowly, her wounds began to heal.

The vet team was confident that a predatory bird had caused her injuries.

Dumpling’s Journey To Joy

As days passed, Dumpling’s health steadily improved. Her ribs began to heal on their own.

The staff was in awe of her remarkable recovery.

With her sweet and playful nature, Dumpling quickly became a favorite. She started playing and cuddling with Lentil, another rescue puppy in the nursery.

Once she was fully healthy, Dumpling was put up for adoption. It didn’t take long for her to find the perfect family.

She was overjoyed to meet her forever family, who fell in love with her instantly. They gave Dumpling the love and care she so deserved.

Dumpling now has her own Instagram account, where she shares updates about her life.

She loves spending time with her sister, Hazelnut Abbey, who was also adopted from the Smyrna rescue.

From an abandoned, injured puppy with a heartbreaking start, Dumpling blossomed into a beautiful and joyful dog.
