Nervous Pup Meets Her New Vet And Can’t Believe It’s Someone She Knows

When Cricket’s dad first adopted her, he, like many others, had doubts about pit bulls. But before long, he found himself completely smitten with his pittie. “She LOVES going places and meeting people,”

Bob Kuykendall, Cricket’s dad, shared. “She is submissive to everything! Even cats and chickens. When we trail walk, if we pass someone and they avoid her or don’t pet her, she stands and stares and whines, wondering why they didn’t pet her. She really could be a poster dog for pits.”

The Vet’s Office: Cricket’s One Big Worry

While Cricket loves going to most places, there’s one spot that always gets her a little nervous: the vet. She spent a lot of time there as a puppy after breaking her leg, so she’s learned to tolerate it, but it’s still not her favorite. Sometimes, she tries to be brave, but more often, she just wants to avoid the stress.

Recently, Cricket arrived at the vet’s office expecting the usual anxiety when she noticed something completely unexpected. The vet was someone she knew very well.

“My daughter just became a veterinarian this year, so it was our first visit to her,” Kuykendall shared.

Cricket was utterly confused seeing her sister, Maddie, in the dreaded vet outfit. Maddie called out to Cricket, and her tail began to wag. She hesitated, then retreated to Dad with her tail between her legs. Was this her sister or the vet—or both? Finally, Maddie approached and showered Cricket with love. Cricket relaxed, recognizing the comforting presence of her sister, even if Maddie had “gone to the dark side” by becoming a vet.

Will Cricket Learn to Love the Vet?

As for whether Cricket will ever fully warm up to the vet’s office, Bob isn’t sure. “I don’t know if her perception has totally changed,” he said. “It’ll be an ongoing thing, but I bet she’ll look around for my daughter in the future for some comfort.”
