Someone in the 80s:
“I wish there was a car that reminded me of my living room.”

Jay Ohrberg:
“I’m on it!”

Custom car builder Jay Ohrberg’s creation stretched about 30 feet long and about two and a half cars wide, earning the nickname “living room on wheels.” The interior featured mostly empty, carpeted space with a single oversized bench seat upholstered in white fuzzy material (seating around seven people).

The vehicle rolled on four visible wheels (two per side), with four additional hidden wheels tucked underneath the bodywork to help carry the weight. Power came from two 1975 Cadillac front-wheel-drive engines, and the limousine could actually split into two separate halves for transport, with each section able to move independently.

The cavernous interior was large enough for a game of volleyball, making it one of the only vehicles ever designed to double as an indoor sports court. Ohrberg, Hollywood’s “King of Show Cars,” built this oddity alongside other famous creations like KITT from Knight Rider, the General Lee from The Dukes of Hazzard, and Batmobile replicas.
