1981 Ferrari 308 GTSi (by Pininfarina)
This Italian sports car, introduced in 1975, revolutionized Ferrari’s lineup with its mid-mounted 3.0-liter V8 engine. The 1981 308 GTSi featured Bosch fuel injection instead of carburetors used in earlier models, delivering 202 horsepower (at 7,000 rpm) through a slick-shifting 5-speed manual transaxle. Its removable Targa roof panel provided open-air motoring without the structural compromises of a full convertible. The low-slung Pininfarina-designed body combined aggressive angles with flowing curves, creating an iconic silhouette that defined 1980s sports car aesthetics. Though less powerful than carbureted predecessors due to emission regulations, the GTSi maintained excellent handling characteristics from its fully independent suspension and four-wheel disc brakes. The 308 series proved immensely popular, with over 12,000 units sold across all variants during its production run.
