1960 Lincoln Continental Mark V Convertible
Power-retractable glass rear windows distinguished this luxury convertible as one of the most technologically advanced open cars of its era. The Cherokee Red finish complemented the parchment-colored power-operated soft top, creating an elegant two-tone appearance that emphasized Lincoln’s commitment to sophisticated styling during the final year of the Mark V generation.
Inside, the red leather interior featured a dashboard design exclusive to the 1960 model year, representing a transitional period before Lincoln’s complete redesign for 1961. Optional air conditioning provided climate control rarely available in convertibles of this period, underscoring the model’s position in the luxury market.
The refined 430-cubic-inch V8 engine produced 315 horsepower, delivering smooth acceleration appropriate for cross-country touring. This powerplant reflected Lincoln’s emphasis on effortless performance rather than raw speed, matching the Continental’s grand touring character.
As the final iteration of this design generation, the 1960 Mark V Convertible marked the end of Lincoln’s 1950s styling philosophy before adopting the radical new direction that would define the brand throughout the following decade.
