1957 Ford Fairlane 500 Victoria Club Coupe (more pics below π)
Ford’s 1957 passenger car lineup outsold Chevrolet for the first time since 1935, a result attributed in part to a wholesale redesign that made every model longer, lower, and wider than its predecessor.
The Fairlane 500 sat at the top of the Fairlane range, distinguished by full-length side trim with a gold anodized insert and the pillarless hardtop body style Ford called the Victoria.
The two-door Fairlane 500 Victoriaβs greenhouse carried an almost custom appearance, framed by modest fins and generous chrome work. Overall length stretched to about 208 inches on a 118-inch wheelbase, reinforcing the carβs low, wide stance.
Inside, a curved instrument panel with recessed controls and a sweep-hand speedometer reflected period safety thinking. Power commonly came from the 292 cu in Y-block V8, rated at 212 hp with a four-barrel carburetor, while buyers could also opt for the 312 cu in Thunderbird Special V8 with higher output.
