This bird looks like a tropical candy drifting through the rainforest canopy.
High in the rain-soaked forests of Indonesia, the Pink-headed Fruit Dove moves quietly among fruiting trees with soft flashes of green, yellow, and rosy pink. Its pastel-colored head contrasts beautifully against emerald wings, making it one of the most delicate-looking pigeons in the canopy.
It feeds almost entirely on small ripe fruits, carefully selecting the softest berries before swallowing them whole. As it travels through the forest, it carries seeds across long distances, helping new trees grow in places untouched by wind or larger animals.
A gentle splash of color among the leaves, yet a silent gardener of the island rainforest.
