This little swallow can look emerald green, violet, or deep blue depending on how the light hits its feathers.

The Violet-green Swallow is a fast-flying aerial hunter found across western North America. Its glossy green back, violet-blue crown and rump, and crisp white cheeks create a stunning combination of colors. It spends much of its life in the open sky, catching flying insects in mid-air with incredible speed and precision.

A living flash of color above the landscape, proving that sometimes the most beautiful birds are the ones you only see for a second.
