🚨 Erika Kirk and the Kirk family have filed a notice of claim against Utah Valley University, the state of Utah and key officials, alleging catastrophic security failures left Charlie exposed to a rooftop gunman during his outdoor event.
According to the filing, Turning Point USA warned UVU about unsecured rooftop access after students raised concerns. Charlie’s team reportedly asked campus police to secure the area or allow its own security personnel to cover it, but UVU Police Chief Jeffrey Long allegedly responded, “I got you covered.”
The family says the rooftop used by the accused shooter was never secured. The filing also says the event had only six campus officers, no local police presence, no metal detectors, no controlled perimeter and no adequate emergency plan for the roughly 3,000 people in attendance.
The notice is a required procedural step before the family can file a wrongful death lawsuit. The allegations have not yet been resolved in court.
